With restrictions continuing to ease across Ontario, more musicians have been contacting Royal City Studios to ask about hall booking information for live shows.

If you’re in Guelph or the surrounding areas, the simplest way to find out about the hall is to drop into Royal City Studios and either RCS owner Jim Duffield or one of the RCS crew will be happy to show you around the hall and answer your questions.

Royal City Studios is located at 930 Woodlawn Rd. W., Unit 1, in Guelph, ON. Directions from surrounding regions are found on the RCS Contact Page, which includes Guelph Transit. Royal City Studios is an inclusive and accessible facility.

If You Don’t Have Time for That, Here’s Some Quick Info

Basic information about Royal City Studios’ Music Hall can be found by clicking here.

In a nutshell, the page explains that musicians just need to bring their instruments, cymbals, and other breakables. PA system, amps, drum kit, stage lighting, stage, etc., are all provided.

Bands Are Currently Able to Book the RCS Music Hall for Free

As part of Royal City Studios’ continuing efforts to support musicians, provide accessible live performance opportunities, and help bring live music back, Royal City Studios currently makes its music hall available at no cost for bands and solo performers.

This extends to all musicians, wherever they live.

Bands take home ticket sales. Bands also take sales from whatever merch they may choose to bring. (Bands are in charge of providing someone to manage merch tables.)

Bands are also provided with a rehearsal studio on the day of the show to stow gear, warm up before the show, etc.

To support the above, Royal City Studios only takes bar sales.

Bands Also Get Show Promotion

At no cost, live shows are promoted by RCS across an extensive network of social channels covering a wide region, including Guelph, the Tri Cities, and parts of the GTA.

Aiding bands on a wider level (e.g., album sales/plays, website traffic), bands are also promoted in RCS Music News Weekly, the RCS newsletter, which goes out to an extensive subscriber list and gets posted to social channels covering many areas of Ontario.

To facilitate optimal promotion, bands are asked to send high-resolution band photos, bios, etc., to Royal City Studios well before show time.

To assist bands who may not have a press kit, we recently published a blog—9 Things That Should Be in Your Band’s Electronic Press Kit—that will help bands well beyond the scope of an RCS show.

In tandem with the above, bands are encouraged to promote their shows through their own social channels and other available channels (band website, fan email lists, etc.).
